Bocconcini di Tofu in agrodolce

Sweet and sour tofu bites

The sweet and sour Tofu bites are one of the three recipes proposed by chef Francesco Basco during the first show cooking of the "N&B in Cucina" project.

Dough :

  • 200g of Tofu N&B
  • 1 tablespoon of flour 0
  • 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
  • 1 pinch of paprika
  • 1 pinch of salt

Sauce :

  • 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon of corn starch
  • 50 milliliters water
  • Sesame seeds


  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C in static mode.
  2. Dry the tofu stick: the more water you can remove from inside, the better the tofu will absorb the seasonings.
  3. After squeezing it well, cut the tofu into cubes, pour into a bowl and season with sesame oil, salt and a pinch of sweet paprika.
  4. Mix well, then cover with the 0 flour, give one last stir and place the cubes on a baking tray covered with baking paper, trying to remove the excess flour. Cook for 20 minutes.
  5. Meanwhile, prepare the sweet and sour sauce: pour the sesame oil, soy sauce and maple syrup into a bowl and mix well.
  6. Also add the cornstarch, which will be what will thicken the sauce, and mix well until there are no more lumps. Add the water, mix and bring everything to the flame. Here it will be a matter of a few seconds: keep the flame low, stirring constantly.
  7. As soon as the sauce begins to thicken, pour in the tofu cubes, removed from the oven. Turn off the flame and mix well, until they are completely covered. Finally, serve with a mixed salad or other vegetables as desired.
